Project Background
Target site locates in Muli branch way, G7661 Xichang-Shangrila Highway, with total length 39km. This high way crosses 3 main rivers and 2 main mountain ranges in southwest China, elevation difference of the project is large.
(Target Site)
The Project
The mountainous and less vegetation area is highly prone to geological disasters such like rockfall and landslide, long-standing rare rainfall also leads sandstone and wind-eroded rocks on slope surface.
The Challenge
Steep cliff and loose clastics is not construction-friendly condition. As this branch way is a vital communication line, the project has to be operated without traffic disturbing, and more attention should be paid to avoid loose rock falling when system installing.
The Solution
Draped net slope stabilization system is set up on this project. The net is stretched across the slope in a manner that maximizes slope contact. The slope is permitted to erode behind the net layer, which serves as a barrier to regulate the passage of rocks as it descends the slope, frequently into a catchment ditch at the toe.
